Privacy statement
When you visit one of our websites or apps, request information through our websites or apps, make telephonic contact and/or register with us, or request another service, your personal data will be registered. We are careful with processing and maintaining the security of your personal data. We comply to the law and regulations with regards to the protection of personal data, such as to the ‘General Regulation Data Protection’ or Algemene Verordening Gegevensbescherming in Dutch. In this privacy statement you can read how we process your personal data.
This statement only applies to the platforms owned by the KNHB. The KNHB is not responsible for the privacy policy of other sites and (online) sources mentioned on our Platforms.

What is personal data and what is meant by processing of personal data?
Personal data refers to all information about an identified or identifiable person. Any data with which a person can be identified directly or indirectly is viewed as personal data. For example: your name, contact details and any other information that is or can be linked to you, including e-mail address, location data, login code, health data, bank details, etc.
Processing of personal data means any action or set of actions with regard to personal data.
Who is responsible for the processing of your personal data?
The KNHB is responsible for the processing of your personal data. This means that the KNHB determines the purposes and means for the processing and that the KNHB is responsible for compliance with the regulations. We can be reached via privacy@knhb.nl.
Why do we use your personal data?
The KNHB processes your personal data for various purposes. We only process personal data that is essential for these purposes.
The following purposes require the processing of personal data by the KNHB. To be able to:
- contact you;
- send you information;
- enter into and execute (member and other) agreements;
- inform and advise;
- make offers;
- conduct investigations;
- participate in panels;
- handle complaints and compliments;
- conduct disciplinary matters;
- cconduct advocacy
- show you targeted advertisements by classification in a group profile based on characteristics and behavior;
- show you specific KNHB advertisements on third-party websites. This can be done, for example, by creating specific target groups with the help of targeting tools on Facebook and/or Google or by uploading (encrypted) e-mail addresses. Targeted advertisements are then shown to these target groups.
Your personal data can be exchanged with or made available to all parts of the KNHB for the aforementioned purposes. It is also possible that when you use different KNHB products and / or services, your data will be combined into a profile with data from (the use of) other KNHB products and/or services and / or from third parties (as mentioned below) under ‘data obtained from third parties’)
We also use your personal data for relationship management and activities to increase our database of hockey players, fans, volunteers and other parties involved in the KNHB and to inform you about our activities. We try to take your preferences into account. If you no longer wish to receive information from the KNHB, the KNHB will always offer you the opportunity to unsubscribe.
Why are we allowed to process your personal data?
According to legislation, in particular the GDPR, the KNHB may only process personal data if one of the legal bases applies. The KNHB uses the following legal grounds for the processing of personal data:
A. after obtaining permission from the person whose personal data we process;
B. in the context of the formation and/or execution of an agreement;
C. to comply with the law (including accounting, tax obligations and obligations in the context of court orders or other mandatory laws and regulations);
D. with reference to the legitimate interests of the KNHB, whereby the KNHB ensures the impact on your privacy is as limited as possible.
For example, personal data is processed in the case of:
- creating reasearch and statistics;
- exercise and defence of the rights of the KNHB, for example in disputes;
- management of member data or support thereof, including the creation of segments and profiles for member management or for monitoring member needs;
- taking care of and improving the website, whereby the KNHB can monitor your c(lick) behaviour during visits to the website in order to improve your experience. The KNHB can link your IP address to your actions and determine your preferences that way. We always ask for your explicit permission for this in advance (see our cookie statement).
How long do we keep your personal data?
The KNHB does not store personal data longer than necessary for the realization of the purposes for which the data is processed, and in any case for as long as specific regulations require.
How do we obtain your personal data?
If you are a member of a hockey club (association) , the KNHB is in the posession of certain personal details, such as your name, address, age and e-mail address. The association passes the information on to the KNHB after your registration. The KNHB then links this data to a personal registration number (‘bondsnummer’). This number is only used for administrative and organizational purposes of the KNHB and your hockey club.
In other cases we obtain your personal data directly from you and process it, for example if you create an account, register for a course, workshop or training, or sign up for the newsletter.
1. Create an account
To use certain parts of our Platforms, you must first create an account. After creating your account, we save your data, so that when you log in you get a personalized news overview (hockey.nl) and you have the option to respond to messages.
To create an account, we ask for the following information:
- Name
- Date of birth
- Personal registration number (‘bondsnummer’)
- E-mail address
- Photo (optional)
If you are a member of a hockey club (or are registered as holding a position within the association) and you enter your personal registration number, some of this information (name, date of birth, gender and e-mail address) can already be identified by the KNHB. It is possible to enter a different e-mail address other than the one known by the KNHB when creating an account. However, the details in the membership of the hockey club will not be adjusted.
If you delete your account, the personal information in relation to your account will also be deleted.

2. Subscribe to the Newsletter
You can subscribe to the hockey.nl newsletter. We will keep you informed of hockey news via the newsletter. Your e-mail address will automatically be added to the mailing list of the newsletter. In every newsletter you receive, there is a link with which you can unsubscribe.
3. Cookies
In addition, we obtain data via cookies, such as your surfing behavior, the time at which you use our online services or the type of service you use. We can link this information to your account when you are logged in.
4. Information obtained from third parties
If you register with one of our partners for a service or product of the KNHB, such as a registration for one of our newsletters, we will receive the relevant data from this partner and we may process it for the purpose for which you provided that data. For example, when you log in via a social media party (e.g. Facebook) on a website or app of the KNHB, we receive your e-mail address and public profile information.
To whom do we provide your personal data?
We use third parties to manage our Platforms. It is possible that these third parties have access to your personal data. If that is the case, we take the appropriate measures to ensure that your data is adequately secured and used only for the intended purposes. The KNHB will under no circumstances sell or share your personal data to third parties.
1. Passing on and receiving of personal data within the KNHB
The KNHB can exchange your (personal) data between the various employees and volunteers within the organization, as far as this is necessary in perspective of the purpose of the data processing.
2. Passing on and receiving of data outside the KNHB
The purpose of the processing of your personal data may require us to share personal data with other organizations. As fas as there is no explicit consent or legal obligation, this exchange of data takes place exclusively on the basis of the performance of the agreement between you and the KNHB or when the KNHB has a legitimate interest in this.
3. No commercial use
The KNHB will not sell your personal data or make your data commercially available to third parties, except as described in this privacy statement. Additional conditions that may be relevant must be declared applicable via a decision from the General Meeting.
Security
The KNHB has taken appropriate technical and organizational measures to implement and secure personal data against loss or any form of unlawful processing. The KNHB has established an information security policy and has taken physical, organizational and electronic measures with due observance of this. Your data is transmitted over the internet via secure connections. We contractually impose on third parties engaged in the management and development of the Platforms the obligation to respect the confidentiality of your data.
View, delete and change: what are your privacy rights?
You have the right to access, correct, restrict or request the removal of your personal data. You can also request a transfer of your data. Finally, you can object to the use of your data. If the processing of your data is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. You can submit, in written format, a request to privacy@knhb.nl in this regard. You will receive an answer as soon as possible. Questions by members of the KNHB who are also members of an affiliated association with KNHB must be addressed to their own hockey club (association) first.
